This weekend I discovered that I freaking love Hujoos and wish there was a more active online community for them.

So I took two cosplay photos this weekend. Now, I am obviously of the belief that you don't have to look like a character to cosplay it. However, I will admit that if you do look like the character, it can be a freakin' awesome result. Case in point...

This really is the wig that I imagined when I thought of RB!


Things left that R.B. needs to be complete:
-glasses
-lab coat
-his son R.J.

He could use a few more button down shirts, casual pants, and formal shoes, but I'll focus on what he and doesn't have some of already first. X3 And boy, I really need to clean off his body blushing. x.x

After all this time, I am finally happy with R.B.'s face-up. It wasn't supposed to be re-done, though. I was just going to add more definition to his brows, but the ZM sealer had white powder or something on the nozzle which sprayed all over his face... I had to wipe it completely. But that's okay... I like the new face-up way better anyways. It looks much cleaner now at least.

Of course, as soon as I finish it, I find that his wig is torn in the skin piece. Repairing it would make it far too small for his head and I can't find his spare. Even if I could find his spare, it is in such poor shape... I really want to get him a new wig. x.x I can't remember the company name/color/size/all that stuff of the wig I really liked at a meet-up (Blyss owns it I think?).

So... he is wearing Enny's wig, which is fine as Enny has no body... But it's... brown. And now I really want his glasses again.

Crappy bedroom photo, but I'm wearing cream pants and don't want to sit in the grass and I can't find my photography lights atm.

His outfit is a work in progress for a doll that isn't here yet. I love everything about the fabric the shirt is made out of. I wish I'd gotten more. @_@ The rest of the outfit is rib knit fingerless gloves and brown corduroy shorts. I'm thinking of making a hat, goggles, and vest, but not sure yet.

Off the top of your head, name ten of your favourite Movie Moments. i.e.: When Jaws pops out of the water. They don't have to be your top ten, just whatever randomly pops into your head (that way you know they stuck with ya!)

If they're self explanatory, booyah. if not, tell us why it's so memorable/well loved to you.

So most of these aren't favorite moment, but rather the first thing I think of when I think about movies.

1. In Sweeney Todd, when the sailor boy barges in on Sweeney and the judge and Sweeney freaks out on the sailor. I just think the sailor has the perfect "oh shit!" face just before he runs out the door.

2. The giant nose sniffing across the screen in Pirates of the Caribbean 3... It doesn't matter which Pirate movie I am thinking about, that scene is the first thing I think of. x.x I remember seeing it in the theater and the GIANT PORES!

3. After the guys slay the flying dinosaur in Evolution and they are driving down the road in the Jeep singing "Play that Funky Music White Boy." XD

4. Mulder and Scully's almost kiss then BAM! bee sting, in the first X Files movie.

5. The first moment you realize the enemies in the second X Files movie are... gay Russians. That movie was already making me sigh about how un-X Filesy it was, but that moment really made me go.. buh?

6. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Snape telling Lupin and Sirius they fight like an old married couple. XP

7. Nightmare Before Christmas when Jack is obsessing over what he is missing with Christmas and the camera is panning all the way around him. I just find that scene beautiful every time I watch it.

8. Again in Nightmare, when Jack is singing his lament in the graveyard and he is in the arms of the statue saying "what have I done? What have I done?" while the camera pans around him. Beautiful cinematography.

9. When Edward Scissorhands first approaches his friendly neighborhood Avon lady and says "I'm not finished." It was so cute and so innocent...

10. In TMNT 2, the "Wax on, wax off" scene. This sticks out in my mind because I remember being a child in the cinema watching it with my mom. A storm started and when Mikey said "wax on, wax off, wax on..." and Raph was about to say "mouth off", the power went out. x.x I was bawling my eyes out, so the concession stand lady gave me a Eureka's Castle cup. XD

Probably a stupid question that nobody knows the answer to, but I figured I would ask...

Does anybody know if there is free, public WiFi in the convention area for Anime Weekend Atlanta? There just so happens to be a one day event (Pirate Day) and the start of another event (Brewfest) that I will be missing on Warcraft due to the convention... >.>

I haven't yet let anyone log on my account to do the achievements for me and I don't intend to start now. DX

I'm trying to think of things to sell at Nekocon other than just doll clothes, so I started doodling at work today. I ended up liking what came out, so I scanned them in and threw them in to Photoshop. I was thinking they would make cute badges or buttons...

Here is one of them... I don't know if it is good enough to sink money in to a button maker or lanyard clips/lamination material/lanyard hole punch... I also don't know if it needs shading and highlights or if the flat look is okay.

So... any input is greatly appreciated.

...I really, really hate "Life is Good" shirts. I can't explain why exactly, but whenever I see someone wearing one (which seems to be almost every person who walks in there) I get really freakin' irritated. >.>

Nothing to say of this, just thought it entertaining of whom I share a birthday with (Johnny Depp as well, but I say that every year).

But a happy birthday to all the June babies on my f-list. It seems like at least half of my f-list.

3. I think doll companies should just start naming their molds things like Bob and Steve... just to put a stop to the stupid debates over the "proper" way to say a mold's name.

Pros:
-Seeing so many of my doll peoples
-Good earnings at the artist table
-Steampunk panel of awesome
-Super close hotel with underground connector
-Super huge and pretty con building of win
-Because of the cosplay skit, my dad's voice will now be on YouTube (har har har)
-Dealer selling dolls in the dealer's room made enabling super easy... as well as being enabled
-I successfully made it home without buying any of said dolls
-Pica got to see Lorelei!
-The table for large prop depositing at the top of the dealer's room was wonderful for cosplayers and for people in the dealer's room
-Great artist alley location with room to expand and elevator/bathroom access
-Very little waiting for the elevators in the hotel
-Biiiig room for dealer's room which will allow for much expansion


Cons:
-Elevator parties are NOT fun (especially when artists are trying to get stuff from the artist alley to their hotel rooms or cars) and anybody participating should be banned from the con. This affected us TWO DIFFERENT DAYS
-Not many watering stations
-Confusing layout until you find all the secret passage ways
-Didn't make it to much panel or meetup-wise
-Restaurants/odd open and closing times + odd eating schedules = fail
-There is a much needed new system for organizing the cosplay... Numbers should be handed out at the morning meeting to prevent the mad dash to the door and make groups easier to get in order.
-Apparently the convention center doesn't trust us enough to turn on their precious escalators
-So that's what happens when printing programs goes wrong
-Staaaairs! And so much of it (especially the entrance/exit to the dealer's room) relied on escalators, which are difficult to walk up and down when they aren't turned on. There was at least one person who tore their legs up by falling on them.


End remakrs:
Awesome place for a convention. When that city walk type thing they are building next door to the hotel is done, I'm sure it will be even more made of win (assuming the restaurants there stay open normal hours). This building really is perfect for the convention to grow in to, I think.

Awesome! I hope the panel gets really good attendance. There were a lot of good questions last year and more people that had questions. And being the day after the basic info panel, it will let people who had questions after the panel get them answered. I'll be there!
